NEW DELHI: A new skipper in Mayank Agarwal and an entirely different looking Punjab Kings will be hoping that their almost complete overhaul pays off when the franchise begins their IPL 2022 journey starting March 27.
Punjab Kings splurged a lot of money at the auction table after having only retained Mayank and Arshdeep Singh. The franchise looks a strong unit on paper but have tough competition ahead of them after being placed in Group B alongside Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans.
Punjab Kings play two games each with these teams along with Delhi Capitals, who are their counterparts from Group A. Against Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants, Kings play a game each.
Mayank and co. will be looking to get off to a strong start when they kick-off their 2022 campaign against 2016 runners-up Bangalore.
